Montparnasse – Market

This apartment is located in an area of Paris which has been frequented by artists, and writers, since the 1920s.

Our Montparnasse – Market apartment is located on the fourth floor of this historic 1885 building.

It offers 60 sqm of space or roughly 600 sqft, it overlooks the Avenue Edgar Quinet with its lush trees line.

Both owners are artists, thus the whole living room is covered with paintings, art books, pottery, etc.

There is, by Paris standards, a large, fully equipped kitchen. The dining table can comfortably seat four people. The bedroom is replete with a double bed, and closet space.

An ensuite bathroom contains an Italian walking shower, a toilet, and double sinks.

The neighborhood is filled with restaurants, bars, and theaters. There is a Monoprix supermarket located right across the street.

A fabulous farmer’s market takes place every Wednesday and Saturday right below the building, and an enviable typical Parisian flea market is open every Sunday.

The Montparnasse train station is a 4-minute walk. However, if you prefer, taxis and buses are abundant, Uber can also be hired.

The world-renowned department store Le Bon Marché, (high-end clothing, shoes, jewelry, beauty products, etc.) is also a short walk away. A place worth discovering is La Grande Epicerie, which boasts a food hall, pastry shop, restaurant, and an out-of-this-world wine cellar.

The magnificent Hotel Lutetia (4.5 stars) is also nearby and is an exceptional & wonderful place to stop by, after a day discovering Paris, for an aperitif, and why not dinner?

“La Closerie de Lilas” was Hemingway’s home away from home and his favorite hangout! Household names such as Charles Baudelaire, Scott Fitzgerald, Gertrude Stein and Alice Toklas, Jean-Paul Sartre, James Joyce and Samuel Becket were regulars…

From “La Closerie des Lilas” a visit to Le Jardin du Luxembourg is a must. Marie de Médici ordered its creation in 1612, and it is a verdant park where you can stroll among the fragrant greenery, have a seat and relax on the benches, or wander by the lake, to watch children launch their toy sailboats.

You’re now in the center of the Latin Quarter and in front of the Paris Pantheon which opened in 1790. Inside the Pantheon are buried well-known people such as Marie Curie, Victor Hugo, Emile Zola, as well as King Vittorio Emanuele II.
